Going on your first hunt? BUT WHAT WOULD I WEAR?

Not sure what to buy? Here are a few items to get you started. Before purchasing any Banded items, let Julia know you’re looking for Banded gear and she will give you access to purchase for a more affordable price!

To start, it’s extremely hard to go wrong when it comes to camo and gear, however, some options are better than others. A few things to remember when picking gear:

  • Dress in layers, beginning with something like leggings and a long-sleeve top. This allows you to add or remove layers to stay comfortable depending on the weather.

    • Search for items in your closet to use as base layers.

      • Any neutral color hoodie over any type of long sleeve tee or shirt can serve as mid and base layers to wear under a camo coat.

      • Every day leggings and sweats are great to wear as base layers under your waders or bibs.

  • If you choose to utilize gear you already own, there are a few things to keep in mind:

    • Avoid bright colors and stick with solid neutral tans, browns and muted greens.

      • When hunting flooded timber, choose colors that follow the color scheme of woodsy areas and allow you to access water while staying dry.

      • When hunting dry fields, you have more flexibility to wear bibs or pants and jackets as opposed to waders.

    • If you have other outdoor hobbies and already own cold weather gear, keep the above tips in mind.

    • Keep in mind that hunting is a messy sport. Plan to get dirty and don’t wear anything you don’t want to chance ruining.

  • Keep in mind the accessories listed are optional and not required for hunts (gloves, neck gaiter and beanie) but do allow for a more comfortable hunts in the extremely cold temperatures.

  • The type of area you’re hunting (marsh, timber, dry fields) will partially determine the gear required for a successful hunt. If you aren’t sure of the differences, either reach out to Julia or stay tuned for resources that explain the main differences.

Every item listed below is a great, high-quality option, and relatively budget friendly. There are several options that get the job done. Find what works best for your budget and needs.

Banded Women's Insulated Wader

Waders are great for walking through flooded areas or bodies of water. These will allow you to stay dry and warm on your way to the hunting spot, during set up, etc. It’s recommended to size up if you’re between shoe sizes.

Banded Women's Jackets

The last thing you want to worry about while hunting on the coldest days of the year is being cold. The best coat is one that keeps you warm, fits great under waders or bibs, and has several pockets that make it easy to store anything you need to keep handy. Sizing up is recommended to fit multiple layers underneath.

Banded Women's Pants

While there are several options for pants, pick something that will work as a mid layer and will fit under your bibs or waders during the coldest days of the year. A wader pant or mid layer pant is usually best.

Banded Women's Hoodies & Pullovers

A fleece-lined hoodie or pullover works can work as a mid layer under a coat or as an outer layer, depending on temperatures. Sizing up is recommended if you plan to wear multiple layers underneath.

Banded Women’s Beanie

While ball caps are great, beanies allow for more warmth. Consider throwing a beanie over your ball cap to not compromise the ability to hide your eyes while hunting.

Banded Neck Gaiter

A neck gaiter is a great option for keeping your neck and face warm on those extremely cold days and to hide your face when out in more open areas.

Banded Women’s Gloves

Whether you prefer thicker and warmer or lighter weight gloves, they’re a great addition to your gear list.

Banded Merino Wool Socks

Merino Wool socks are known to be a great option to keep your feet warm and dry during the coldest hunts.
